Hi Laura, This would be possible if you can put the images together (with the words on them), then make a jigsaw and cut the pieces as you want, using jigs@wpuzzle2 from Tibosoft . This is an inexpensive program which I use; it has a feature where you can draw your own lines to cut custom pieces. 

If you only want one puzzle, and if you can make one image with all the smaller ones (I use MS Photodraw to add words to my images but this is an old program), you could email the image to me and I could make a jigsaw for you.

I would like to have 19 jigsaw puzzle pieces that come together to form a collection of small images with words on them. Any idea of how I can do this?

I am trying to develop sources for digital books for rural African teachers who have few or no hard copy books in any language, but especially in their children's local languages. This includes translating appropriate books from other places. I'd love to communicate with you about this, since you have done such creative work on this site. Judith

Hi Judith, this sounds like a really worthwhile and exciting project.

I've made a few very simple printable books which I'd love to see translated and used in other countries, but they're a bit fiddly to organise- and of course if you don't have access to printing/photocopying, it wouldn't work. I have sent some copies to Indonesia when my son went there to visit, as they're cheap and light, but I only had English versions (some school there teach English).

I haven't investigated making digital books ( I like to give my students little books they can draw/write in and keep) but I'm always looking for a new project...

My main problem with making books, apart from time, is the illustrations; I'd love to be able to draw well! Maybe if children drew illustrations, I could scan them, as I've done for some of the poems on my Poems for Children site.

The other aspects for different cultures are - the translation, naturally, but also culture- relevant content. I guess books about animals are interesting to most children.

I did have an idea of getting a couple of my printable board games for reading translated (into Italian for now, as I have a friend who teaches Italian)... I wonder if that could be another resource for your purposes if it's feasible?
